Rosh Hashanah 2022: Honey Apple Rose Pie - Michael Aram

Rosh Hashanah 2022: Honey Apple Rose Pie

Fall is approaching, and so is the start to the Holiday season. While some are getting back into their pumpkin-spice galore routine, some are getting into the spirit with other traditions like apple picking season. With Rosh Hashanah only a few weeks away, this honey apple pie recipe will steal the floor during your celebrations. Truly, nothing better than warm flakey crust and decadent filling, this dessert is fun to create and even more fun to eat.

Prep + Cook Time: 1 hour

Serving Size: 6-8 people

Dietary Restrictions: This recipe contains glutton, wheat and soy--Please use substitutes if needed. (Products are all Kosher brands!)

Ingredients:

  • 5 Red Apples
  • 1 Sheet Gefen Puff Pastry
  • 1/4 cup Gefen honey
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Margarine

Notes:

-Make sure to thaw out your puff pastry before use!

-Heat oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit

Preparation:

  • Prep your apples by cutting them into halves, then create thin half moon slices with either a peeler or sharp knife, peeling where you can see the outer skin on each slice to give a rosey effect(always be careful!). Place slices in lukewarm water as you prep.
  • In a separate bowl, combine cinnamon, brown sugar, and honey.
  • Cut your puff pastry into nine short strips. Then, take 1 strip at a time and carefully pull to stretch out the dough nice and thin. Take a brush and coat with cinnamon mixture.
  • Remove apple slices from water and pat dry. Next, start centering the apple slices onto the pastry strips, keeping the edges of the apples on the outer part of the dough.
  • Take a round pan and coat with margarine, then place each strip of dough on the outer part of the pan. Repeat this step until your apples have reached the center of the pan.
  • Take the remaining cinnamon mixture and coat the apples. Once you've achieved your final rose pie look, place pan in oven for around 25 minutes or until golden.
  • After removing from the oven, top with extra honey and toppings of choice.
  • Let the pie sit for 20 minutes, serve on an elevated cake stand and enjoy!
